Recently MAAG and Heritage Tours have been working together to expand the Day Trippin’ Bus Tours!  Starting in June 2014, Heritage Tours will offer 3 new tours:  Civil War Trails, Antebellum Homes Tour, and Blues & “Roots” Tour.  These tours will be available each week for individuals and groups!  Like our West Tennessee Heritage and “Roots” tour that launched in February for Black History Month, these tours take tourists and local citizens to smaller towns and communities that have unique histories and help boost the local economy.

–  The Civil War Trails Tour will take Civil War buffs, tourists, and historians to a variety of Civil War Sites beginning on the Mississippi River bluff in Memphis, then to Randolph, TN, and ending in Fort Pillow State Park and Battlefield.

–  The Antebellum Homes Tour showcases stately southern mansions that survived the Civil War in Memphis, as well as, in Collierville, Bartlett, and La Grange.  La Grange has a large collection of antebellum homes and buildings that remain standing.

–  The Blues and “Roots” Tour takes you on a journey through Beale Street, W.C. Handy Museum, out to Covington, where the young B.B. King and Bobby “Blue” Band played.  The tour ends with a stop at the Alex Haley House Museum & Interpretive Center.  Alex Haley, as most know, is the Pulitzer Price Winning author of “Roots,” the book that inspired many to trace their heritage.
