This 1828 home was occupied by both sides during the Civil War and served as headquarters for Union Maj. Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman for a time. The Woodlawn Home is part of Historic Homes & Buildings of La Grange.

The Battle of Moscow historical marker details the U.S. Colored Troops of the 2nd West Tennessee Infantry’s efforts to guard crucial railroads and supply lines during the Civil War. Col. Frank Kendrick later wrote that this battle marked the first experience under fire for many of the men, and that they exhibited the “steadiness and deliberation of veterans.”
