Constructed around 1854, the church associated with the cemetery exhibits Gothic Revival and Greek Revival influences. The congregation dates to the 1830s in the home of Rev. James Holmes, a Presbyterian missionary to Chickasaw Indians. The church was used in the 2005 film, Walk the Line, about the life and career of Johnny Cash.
